Becky and Jim

There are the weddings that take years to plan… countless hours to design and coordinate and dozens of staff to put together. And these are gorgeous!

But then there are also weddings in which everything just seems to fall into place naturally. Dates are open, vendors are magically available, the flowers come in more beautiful than normal, and family and friends come around to create a relaxed, gorgeous, and utterly joyful weekend.

Jim and Becky’s wedding was so much fun for WED to plan, especially since Ellen Robinson and her husband were guests themselves. After we completed the set, Ellen was able to leave her planner cap at home and enjoy the food, drinks, and dancing- whoohoo!

Leigh Webber (be sure to check out her great blog here) was able to capture these beautiful shots of the William Aiken House wedding…

Ellen and her friends relax and enjoy the party!

Allison and Matthew

There’s a little place outside of Charleston that is like heaven on earth… this place is Kiawah Island.

For those who have been, you know just what I mean. The natural beauty of the island is almost hard to believe and this bride and groom were all about showing off nature at its finest.

A trolley transported Allison’s and Matthew’s wedding parties from their rooms at The Sanctuary to the ceremony at the lovely Holy Spirit Catholic Church:

Guests were greeted with silver juleps (these doubled as favors at the end of the evening!):

Then picked up their escort cards underneath this lovely “live oak”

Then cocktailed on the Osprey Point patio overlooking their gorgeous grounds:

PDA Lighting supplied the uplit backdrop for the band, which was focal for every table in the room:

Centerpieces in pale yellows, creams, and greens were oh-so-garden-chic:

This wedding was all about the cakes! I couldn’t decide which one I loved the most- the Notre Dame dome grooms cake, the tiered brides cake on a custom stand or the cupcake and truffle tower…

And this fabric is my latest obsession- I would love this tray in my own house!

Congrats to Allison and Matthew, we absolutely loved working with you and your families. And, of course, thank you for giving us yet another excuse to head out to Kiawah!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to all! I’ve been out of town and behind on posting (sorry!), but I’ll get photos from our April 4th wedding up as soon as I can…

For a quick Easter post, how about a photo to show how to use pastels (traditional Easter colors) in a fresh new way? This photo is from a wedding we planned this past June in St. Johns… we took the bride’s vision of pale yellow, green, and polka dots but made it less “cutesie” and more austere:

Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!

Rainy day post

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

On this rainy weekend, here’s something to put a little sunshine in my (and your!) life: dozens of bright yellow ranunculus, one of my favorite flowers. This is a perfect centerpiece to me- lush but somehow still feels clean and minimal. Here’s to hoping for a bright day tomorrow!
