Kris & Jacob

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

When WED got a call from a groom named Jake and he began to tell us a little bit about himself, Ellen looked over at me and said, “These are your people, go for it!”

It’s just so true… Jake and Kris and pretty much my peeps insomuch that I find them both to be fascinating and wonderful and doing all of the things I kind of dream about doing in another life– leading a top-notch metal band, starting a non-profit and using their fame to help others instead of build up themselves. And of my gosh, how much these two loved one another. You could see it pretty obviously at their engagement shoot and even more so in the planning and on the wedding day. These two were made to be with one another and they embrace life together so beautifully. Even if you don’t read the rest of this blog, check out Jake and Kris’ work with Heart Support here!

As you can imagine their tastes were spot on with the things I am loving right now– a little bit vintage, a little bit industrial, a little bit rocker and overall romantic and lovely. We did the flowers in house and enlisted top-notch vendors and talent like Boone Hall Plantation, Wedding Cakes by Jim Smeal, Granville’s Catering, Snyder Rentals, OOH Lounge Rentals, and Technical Event Company to create really a hauntingly magical space at Boone Hall.

THANK GOODNESS they also enlisted the help of the amazing, amazing (any hysterical) Tim Willhouby and his gorgeous wife Sarah of TimWill Photography to document the day…. every photo is perfection.

Take a look:

Jake and Kris, we love you guys! We were honored and thrilled to work with you both and can’t wait to keep hearing about the amazing things you’ll do in life together….

Mandy and David

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Mandy and David were married at the Daniel Island Club in September and it was one of those wedding weekends in which our entire staff didn’t even feel like we were working at all! It was all so fun and relaxed and our vendors were such friends that it *almost* felt like we were guests ourselves.

The groom was cracking us all up and the bride was so laid back that I don’t think that even if anything DID go wrong she would have been thrown off…

And of course, working with the Daniel Island Club, Juliet Elizabeth Photography, Allure Salon, Old South Barber Spa, Studio R Designs, and Snyder Event Rentals made for an easy and relaxed weekend as well.

Take a look at all the fun times!

Marianne and Emre on Charleston Weddings Blog!

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

Whoohoo, what a fun flashback for us to see Marianne and Emre’s wedding on Charleston Wedding Magazine’s blog featured as this week’s “Flashback Wedding.”

Marianne and Emre’s wedding was quite simply gorgeous. Marianne was ahead of the gold and metallics trend and I have not seen The Rivercourse on Kiawah look as beautiful as it did that night.

Be sure to check out the blog here!

Tara and Jesse

Friday, August 27th, 2010

There are funny people and then there is Donna Von Bruening. We LOVE working with Donna because she is always making our staff, our clients, and all of our vendors laugh all night long.

And Tara and Jesse’s laid lack and fun personalities were perfect for Donna and also for the whimsical teal and yellow art deco-inspired wedding. WED brought in TEC, Studio R, Snyder, and Jim Smeal to the Harbour Club to transform the space with some mid-century style. I especially LOVED the ostrich feathers!!

Congrats, Tara and Jesse!

Rebecca and Robby

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

Wow. Wow, wow, wow. When I opened up this file of photos taken by the wonderful Alison Mayfield of Christian Oth Studio I could not stop saying, “Wow.”

Rebecca and Robby’s wedding was just one of my favorites and NOT just because we worked on one of the most beautiful places in the entire world with some of my favorite vendors like The Sanctuary, Dahlia Designs, Wedding Cakes By Jim Smeal, TEC, Studio R and Snyder.

What really made it incredible for our whole staff was the graciousness and loveliness of the bride and groom, Rebecca and Robby. They are hip professionals living now in North Carolina who were just a true pleasure to work with every single day. I loved to talk with Rebecca about her wedding vision and loved that she trusted us to carry that through for her. Her style was timeless and elegant but with a good dose of fun thrown in there, too. What a great weekend it was on Kiawah… take a peek for yourself:

The stunning bride…

The groom “getting ready” for the wedding… :)

Both SO excited to see each other!

…A beautiful spot we found on the way out to Kiawah!

This little lady who was hanging out on The Sanctuary lawn was mesmerized by the bride, telling her, “You are soooo beautiful” and “I’m going to be a bride, too.” Precious. I think she would have participated in the rest of the photos if she could have.

Congrats to the new Mr. and Mrs.!!

Ashley and Will

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Ashley is a dear friend of mine and is was SO MUCH FUN to help her with her June 2010 wedding at the Cathedral and Mills House!

What I loved is that Ashley completely trusted our vision for the colors, feel, etc. She would say, “I just can’t see it in my head at all, but I trust you!”

It all started around a gorgeous teal-toned bridesmaids dress that she chose. She really loved fresh, summery colors but wanted to make sure it all meshed well together. We brought in pale pinks, apricots, greens, pale blues and creams and I think the results were beautiful.

Here’s a peak of some of the photos that the lovely and talented Kate Thorton snapped for us that day…

Congrats to you both and I can’t wait to hang out with Mr. and Mrs. Jeter!

Bridal Portraits on your Wedding Day

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Taking bridal portraits is certainly an exciting wedding rite of passage, but let’s be honest: these days who really has the time for that? With most of our brides being a plane flight away from Charleston and in busy careers, many are opting to take their “portraits” on the actual wedding day.

Looking at these GORGEOUS photos of one of my favorite brides, Tara, by the super-talented Virgil Bunao of CVI Photography, I’d say wedding day bridal portraits can be a smashing success:

And here’s with her sweet new husband… what a wedding!

Girly Girl Details

Friday, February 26th, 2010

You know what, I’m not an inherent girly girl. I grew up between brothers, what can I say??

But there is something so fun and lovely about the feminine details in a wedding from pink roses to a blushing bride.

Jay was SUCH a fun bride and she fully embraced all that was pink. I loved it. Here are just a few of the fun girly girl details:

(Thank you so much Leigh Webber for the beautiful photos!)

Kate and Ben

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Oh, my… this wedding. One of our FAVORITES for many reasons…

Does everyone remember “Hurricane Hanna”- the alleged hurricane that was coming through the lowcountry in September 2008 threatening to destroy all of our carefully planned events?

This bride and groom would have none of that. Kate, a boutique owner (see her adorable shop here) and her groom Ben, a Navy SEAL, were scheduled to go overseas the very next week. So the show had to go on!

Thankfully the winds gave away to an absolutely STUNNING wedding full of thoughtful details and charm. And did we mention how fun it was? From the bride and groom’s first dance to “Super Freak” (a surprise to all the guests) to the Polaroid photo set up complete with dress up props galore, we were all kept entertained.
