Ashley is a dear friend of mine and is was SO MUCH FUN to help her with her June 2010 wedding at the Cathedral and Mills House!
What I loved is that Ashley completely trusted our vision for the colors, feel, etc. She would say, “I just can’t see it in my head at all, but I trust you!”
It all started around a gorgeous teal-toned bridesmaids dress that she chose. She really loved fresh, summery colors but wanted to make sure it all meshed well together. We brought in pale pinks, apricots, greens, pale blues and creams and I think the results were beautiful.
Here’s a peak of some of the photos that the lovely and talented Kate Thorton snapped for us that day…

Congrats to you both and I can’t wait to hang out with Mr. and Mrs. Jeter!

Taking bridal portraits is certainly an exciting wedding rite of passage, but let’s be honest: these days who really has the time for that? With most of our brides being a plane flight away from Charleston and in busy careers, many are opting to take their “portraits” on the actual wedding day.
Looking at these GORGEOUS photos of one of my favorite brides, Tara, by the super-talented Virgil Bunao of CVI Photography, I’d say wedding day bridal portraits can be a smashing success:

And here’s with her sweet new husband… what a wedding!

You know what, I’m not an inherent girly girl. I grew up between brothers, what can I say??
But there is something so fun and lovely about the feminine details in a wedding from pink roses to a blushing bride.
Jay was SUCH a fun bride and she fully embraced all that was pink. I loved it. Here are just a few of the fun girly girl details:

(Thank you so much Leigh Webber for the beautiful photos!)

Oh, my… this wedding. One of our FAVORITES for many reasons…
Does everyone remember “Hurricane Hanna”- the alleged hurricane that was coming through the lowcountry in September 2008 threatening to destroy all of our carefully planned events?
This bride and groom would have none of that. Kate, a boutique owner (see her adorable shop here) and her groom Ben, a Navy SEAL, were scheduled to go overseas the very next week. So the show had to go on!
Thankfully the winds gave away to an absolutely STUNNING wedding full of thoughtful details and charm. And did we mention how fun it was? From the bride and groom’s first dance to “Super Freak” (a surprise to all the guests) to the Polaroid photo set up complete with dress up props galore, we were all kept entertained.

So y’all know the drill… I post what photos I have, then as soon as Leigh Webber gets her gorgeous photos up I snatch them up to post, too!
But please check out her great blog, which (when she’s not sick with the flu!) she updates regularly. Her photos are always inspiring and her comments a fun take on the day, as she is truly in the middle of everything at all times…
The Manolos… gently tread here before the ceremony, but by the end of the night completely worn down from all the dancing!

Oh, this ring… All we can say is, “Well done, Nick!”

Beautiful ladies!

Sara Grimshaw of Dahlia Designs somehow tracked down these tree peonies at the end of October. Whoohoo!

Ummm… sweet tea mojitos, the recipe graciously supplied by Cypress restaurant (if you haven’t ever tasted one, you must!)

The beautiful couple walking back down the aisle under the oak at Magnolia Plantation…

I loved the “barn” feel at Magnolia in the details like this fence guiding guests to the ceremony

Jim Smeal does not leave out a single detail in his cake designs. These leaves and flowers were edible, and the “young” dogwood flowers and their centers were coordinated with the green and coral scheme

I love that we kept with the season in our “fall leaves” send off! We purchased preserved leaves so that we could have all of the color and none of the breakage.

A beautiful end to a simply lovely night. Cheers to you both, Wallis and Nick!

I have to admit that I am starting really embrace this look– I have always been slightly anti-pink and shyed away from anything too precious, but how can anyone not be romanced a rose topiary in a hand-made ceramic container hugged by pale pink crystal cut votives?

Just a quick post for today… I wanted to share a few photos of a candy station we did this past June. It was candy station to end all candy stations!
The bride wanted it to be the “WOW” factor of the wedding and I have to say, hearing the “oohs” and “ahhs” as guests walked into the reception and saw the display was my favorite part of the night!

The candy was all pink and white and the printing incorporated her butterfly motif…

Hundreds of romantic garden roses, hydrangea, nerine lilies, lisianthus and bells of Ireland composed the centerpieces that towered over the candy… gorgeous!

Eat your heart out!

I always call the hour before sunset “the Golden Hour” at The River Course Club on Kiawah Island because it always seems that the setting sun hits everything with the perfect glow. This fall 2008 bride wanted to bring out that natural gold light in her decor and a fabulous event resulted…

Rattan furniture created comfortable nooks around the porch, perfectly juxtaposed to the lush tent:

Gold tones shone throughout…

What a stunning view (note to golfers- this is on an award-winning course)!
