Hayley has a love affair with all things vino and so for her October wedding at Lowndes Grove we took our cue from French Vineyards…
I really loved how simply her escort cards were displayed. Rather than try to reinvent the wheel, we kept it simple and timeless with hand-calligraphed cards in wine corks (dutifully collected by the bride and her family).
What you DON’T see if that we have WED staff working all day and night to chisel little grooves in each cork with exacto-knives to provide the perfectly balanced card.
All I can say to that is “CHEERS!”

Suzanne and Ben were married just over a year ago- December 27th, 2008 to be exact- and we loved planning their thoroughly unique and charming wedding. I loved how she wanted a winter wedding that featured bold tones and plenty of personal touches…

All of the WED staff loves Thanksgiving… and we all have so much for which to be thankful this year.
I’m headed home this year to Charlotte, NC and am in charge of the Thanksgiving tables for both a 1pm dinner AND an 8pm supper we’re having that day.
For the dinner I’m going traditional, inspired by our wedding at the William Aiken House this past October:
I’d like to saturate these tones to create something like this, but with a little navy in there, too!

So y’all know the drill… I post what photos I have, then as soon as Leigh Webber gets her gorgeous photos up I snatch them up to post, too!
But please check out her great blog, which (when she’s not sick with the flu!) she updates regularly. Her photos are always inspiring and her comments a fun take on the day, as she is truly in the middle of everything at all times…
The Manolos… gently tread here before the ceremony, but by the end of the night completely worn down from all the dancing!
Oh, this ring… All we can say is, “Well done, Nick!”

I loved the “barn” feel at Magnolia in the details like this fence guiding guests to the ceremony
Jim Smeal does not leave out a single detail in his cake designs. These leaves and flowers were edible, and the “young” dogwood flowers and their centers were coordinated with the green and coral scheme
I love that we kept with the season in our “fall leaves” send off! We purchased preserved leaves so that we could have all of the color and none of the breakage.
A beautiful end to a simply lovely night. Cheers to you both, Wallis and Nick!

Though I certainly consider Charleston my home now, many may not know that I am a born and bred Tar Heel, raised my whole life in the lovely North Carolina!
With my entire family (when I say “entire family” I mean my parents, brothers, sister, and sisters-in-law!) all UNC-Chapel Hill alums, it has only made sense that I seek out weddings in the Chapel Hill-Raleigh-Durham area. WED loves to head up to NC for weddings and events!
This wedding in particular was a fun one for me to plan… it was my baby brother’s wedding, after all!
David and Christine met and fell in love at UNC and so it was fitting to host friends and family to come back to their alma mater for their weekend celebration. The rehearsal dinner was held in the gorgeous Morehead Planetariumon UNC’s campus, and the ceremony on Saturday evening at Chapel Hill Bible Church:
The reception venue- The Angus Barn Pavilion- was absolutely stunning and was fabulously accommodating to us in every way… and the views of the lake were stunning!
We used an enormously talented photographer from the Raleigh area- Bill Broere. He was an absolute pleasure to work with and, as you can see, was able to capture stunning photos throughout the evening. **NOTE- he travels to shoot weddings!!
Being that we were in a barn, we kept the decor rustic but clean… white blooms in tin containers and candlelight everywhere!
We incorporated blue lighting on the uncovered patio… we needed at least a little Carolina blue in the mix!
And inside, we lit the barn in amber tones to offer warmth and soft ambiance…
The fire pit was a huge hit, even on the August night! S’mores supplies were brought out when the sun went down and everyone gathered around for a DIY dessert…
I can’t believe my little brother is married… David and Christine, I love you both and it was such an honor to plan your wedding!

There are the weddings that take years to plan… countless hours to design and coordinate and dozens of staff to put together. And these are gorgeous!
But then there are also weddings in which everything just seems to fall into place naturally. Dates are open, vendors are magically available, the flowers come in more beautiful than normal, and family and friends come around to create a relaxed, gorgeous, and utterly joyful weekend.
Jim and Becky’s wedding was so much fun for WED to plan, especially since Ellen Robinson and her husband were guests themselves. After we completed the set, Ellen was able to leave her planner cap at home and enjoy the food, drinks, and dancing- whoohoo!

I absolutely ADORED working with Caroline, Kyle, and both of their families. They were just FABULOUS and I think they had the perfect wedding day due to the fact that they were so positive and uplifting of everyone around them throughout the entire planning process.
Here are just a few details from the always-talented and creative Leigh Webber:

(The Voices of Deliverance were hidden in the back of the church during the ceremony… after the newlyweds were announced, we swung the doors open and the choir burst into “O Happy Day.” The looks on the guests faces were priceless!! The choir, still singing, went down the aisle and then followed the bride and groom back out. One of my favorite wedding memories of all time!)

“It’s a beautiful day,” she told me. Though the clouds were out, the temperatures down, and the threat of rain eminent, our bride yesterday could only see the beauty in her wedding day… I love that!
This wedding was an adventure for WED. Deborah contacted us this fall and told us her story of receiving her breast cancer diagnosis, enduring treatments, coming out stronger than ever (5 years cancer-free!)… but being plagued with medical bills. She had finally met the love of her life in her fiance Craig and had always dreamed of a Charleston wedding, but was debilitated with mounting hospital payments. She asked us if we’d be willing to help her out and help her in finding other vendors to donate of their time and services, and we were thrilled to be invited to be a part of this gorgeous couple’s wedding weekend. With having gone through a breast cancer scare myself, I was excited to help this deserving couple out.
Our planning started with the cocktail hour space: the ever-chic Robert Lange Studios. The space was donated by the owners (and friends of Deborah’s family) and proved perfect for their 50 family and friends to cocktail.
With this space secured I thought it only made sense to have their guests walk right up to dinner in the beautiful Gallery room at McCradys. Fate would have their wedding date open (the only weekend in March that was still available!!), so we picked a beautiful menu and the couple could not have been more excited about the space (“George Washington ate here!” I heard the bride tell just about every guest!). Lauren Robertson of The Cake Stand rounded out their meal with this gorgeous cake:
WED did all of the flowers in house, creating nature-inspired bouquets of andromeda (the bride’s favorite), button and cushion mums, garden roses, heleborus, cymbidium orchids and local dogwood blossoms:
So many of our vendors “wow”ed us with their generosity… FABULOUS photographer ELizabeth Leighton flew up from Port St. Lucie, FL to shoot the wedding (Tomme Hilton was her local second shooter), Redeemer Presbyrterian Church donated their gorgeous sanctuary on Wentworth Street, Lee Edwards his night to DJ, Snyder Event Rentals the linen and Allure Salon the bridal hair. THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who chipped in to treat this very deserving couple!

Unfortunately I’m not talking about the (fabulously funny) show… but we did have our own “platinum” wedding this past February… platinum, black, and white to be exact.
The stormy skies may have dampened anothers day, but I love that the bride proclaimed, “Well, I asked for a gray wedding, right? The weather fits right in!”
It was a gorgeous night…. lots of sparkle, but oh, so chic. Here are a few of the details:
Creeping flowers up black birch branches in custom-tin containers…
Orchids were hung from one of the lounge tents to create an art deco-inspired “chandelier”
Sequined linens paired well with minimalist arrangements…
Silver silk draping and white leather furniture created a hip space…
And the interior rooms for dinner will all about elegance… with a little bling, of course…
We had a silver graphic print designed to meet their mod tastes and carried this throughout the night, beginning with the save-the-dates, then on to the placecards, menus, etc.
The lighting in the dance tent was gorgeous!
Flowers were simple and elegant…
And of course the martini bar was a huge hit…
Beautiful!
