Allison and Ben’s Yacht Club Rehearsal Dinner

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

One of our final events of the fall was for a pair of locals who are oh, so hip and cool! Allison is part of the super talented graphic design firm Studio R Designs and we have treasured her creativity that she has given to many of our brides for the past few years. She always seems to be able to come up with fresh, modern design that is both classic and original. We love her!

She and her wonderful fiance Ben worked with us to plan both their November wedding at Lowndes Grove and Rehearsal dinner at the Carolina Yacht Club... you know… the place with the gorgeous views right on the edge of the Battery on East Bay Street?! With a larger-than-most guest count for the pre-wedding celebration (about 150 guests), we knew that we had to create a feel in the large room that was intimate and cozy.

We kept the linens simple solid navy and white poly from Snyder Event Rentals and the flowers streamlined (deconstructed arrangements from SYG Designs) but went bold on the lighting by TEC in installing lanterns over every singe table. This really brought the high ceilings down and helped us create the cozy feel of the night.

Allison designed all of the BEAUTIFUL printing (I think she described it as “french nautical”) and brought her own french nautical touches for the night as well… including the sea glass balls used on the dessert table and for every guest’s place card. I LOVED these beautiful touches!

It was a great night. My husband and I are friends of the couple and so we were able to actually attend as guests, too! And even though I was nearly 38 weeks pregnant, I still had a blast and relished being a guest… what fun! I ate delicious food, mingles with fun friends, I laughed, I cried (during both of the fathers’ speeches- what great dads these two have!)… it was a blast.

Juliet Jones came out to take photos- it was wonderful that we had someone to document the beautiful space as well as all of the fun moments. Make sure to at least consider hiring your photographer for your rehearsal dinner, too! I know after seeing these photos you’ll see why we always recommend it:

First, the invite… really set the tone for “french nautical,” don’t you think??

Love the beers in the old boat!

Here are Allison and Ben. Gosh, they just could not look more joyful about getting married, I just adore their smiles here and how they stayed on their faces the entire night!

The bride and her dad…

Everyone loving their place card favors!

Allison’s gorgeous mom… seriously, is she really her mom??

Ben’s dad, the host of the party along with his sweet mom, gave the most wonderful toast I think I have ever heard at a rehearsal dinner. It was genuine, heartfelt, poignant but concise. It had me crying that’s for sure! Ben and Allison could not have better parents to celebrate with and I think we ALL saw this that night.

Of course, there was room for some laughter with all the friends toast… Allison, I loved to find out that you stop every single morning at the same gas station to get your 1/2 coke, 1/2 diet coke mix. How quirky and funny!

And then there was the dancing… this little pregnant chica didn’t hit the dance floor as much as I usually do, but the Travis Allison Band had the rest of the guests dancing until the stroke of midnight and beyond. The perfect way to end a most celebratory night!

Stay tuned… wedding details to come next!!

Brooke and Chris

Halloween. Now I know that this is a favorite holiday for many… not for this girl. Well, that is until Brooke and Chris’ Cassique wedding over Halloween weekend this year! The colors, the charm, the fun… all made me fall in love with the festivities and the spooky cheer.

Brooke and Chris hosted their wedding and reception at the always beautiful Cassique on Kiawah Island and WOW, what a gorgeous night it was! Brooke is a fabulous art curator and her effortless style was seen throughout the night from her Carolina Herrera gown with bold accessories and retro hair to the lovely letterpress printing by The Lettered Olive to the custom lantern lighting by TEC.  With plums and pumpkin orange as tones for the florals by SYG Designs and a rustic chic vibe in the reception tent and with Papa Sol keeping the dance floor full all night, I’d most certainly say that the party was as unique as it was fun.

The next morning (Halloween morning) was perhaps one of my FAVORITE events of the entire year and darn it if we couldn’t manage to get any photos to share with you! But it was a COSTUME brunch on the lawn of The Sanctuary and oh, my goodness it was hysterical! The mother-of-the-groom wore a gorilla suit, the bride and groom were Paul Bunyan and the Ox… everyone donned their finest Halloween garb and it was most certainly a brunch to go in the memory books for WED.

So no photos from that, but take a look at the beautiful bride and her gorgeous wedding, compliments of a Charleston uber-talent, Marni Rothschild Durlach (make sure to check out her blog with more photos here):

Congrats, Brooke and Chris!

Mandy and David

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Mandy and David were married at the Daniel Island Club in September and it was one of those wedding weekends in which our entire staff didn’t even feel like we were working at all! It was all so fun and relaxed and our vendors were such friends that it *almost* felt like we were guests ourselves.

The groom was cracking us all up and the bride was so laid back that I don’t think that even if anything DID go wrong she would have been thrown off…

And of course, working with the Daniel Island Club, Juliet Elizabeth Photography, Allure Salon, Old South Barber Spa, Studio R Designs, and Snyder Event Rentals made for an easy and relaxed weekend as well.

Take a look at all the fun times!

Cherokee Plantation, Night 2

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Night two of Cherokee Plantation’s 300 year celebration was another night not to be missed! Members invited their closest family and friends to attend a night of cocktails, dinner and dancing on the beautiful front and back lawns of the historic plantation house.

The night was just perfect… beautiful weather, a cool breeze, fun music and dancing and delicious food by Tidewater Catering.

The Plantation itself if just stunning and sure wasn’t a bad place to be spending the weekend, even if to be the ones behind the scenes putting on the party :) … the staff is so gracious, the members so wonderful and the ambience truly one of a kind.

Thanks so much for letting us be a part of this beautiful weekend, Cherokee Plantation!

Cherokee Plantation, Night 1

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

Oh, how I love South Carolina… I really do. I adore the drive down Hw. 17 towards Savannah and I think what I love most is that there are all these little jewels of places all around that you might never know about if you didn’t turn off the highway! From Beaufort and Bluffton to the Old Sheldon Ruins to the numerous plantations… I love it all.

Cherokee Plantation, a gorgeous working plantation/golf/hunting club near Yemassee, celebrated its 300th  (yes, that is THREE HUNDREDTH) year by hosting a week full of plantation-style fun for its members and their closest friends and families. We were thrilled to help coordinate and design for this fantastic group of folks!

Friday night was an intimate affair inside the most historic house on property… it was just gorgeous. We brought in luxe dupioni linen and for the flowers incorporated all the beautiful colors of fall and paid homage to the Plantation itself by using its own collection of silver vessels as well as pheasant feathers for a little fun. Here’s a little peak:

Of a bona fide BEACH wedding!

The Ocean Course on Kiawah Island is one of the few places that brides can get that beach wedding they want… and I have to admit, there’s something uber-romantic about hearing the waves crashing behind you during your wedding ceremony…

Marni Rothschild took these beautiful photos for Jaci and Jamie’s wedding in May… here are a few details to whet you appetite for an upcoming blog on this event done by the wonderful Della on The Wedding Row- make sure to keep checking her blog daily for this one because it is FULL of great ideas and beautiful touches!

Jaci, you were beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing your weekend with us, and we can’t wait to see what The Wedding Row puts together soon…

Thank you, Schultzes!

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Thanks so much to Cheyenne and Geoff Schultz, a wonderfully fun and exciting photographer husband-wife team who came down from Charlotte, NC to photograph Kim and Drew’s Legare-Waring House wedding.

Don’t you love being able to work with laid-back and easy-going people? It was so seamless for the Schultzes to work with WED and our team and their clever website name- www.lovetheschultzes – seems appropriate.

I LOVED the colors that Kim and Drew used for their April wedding… and how wonderfully did they photograph, too?? Thanks so much to everyone who helped make this happen!!

Here are a few of their wonderful images, and make sure to check out their blog on this event, too…

Thanks so much to the new Mr. and Mrs. Smith!

Anne and Mike

Monday, April 26th, 2010

There are certain wedding venues in town that I know are going to ALWAYS be beautiful… their location and space are just perfect for parties.

The I’On Creek Club is just such a venue. Right on the water through the gorgeous I’On neighborhood, it really is a little Charleston gem!

A little drizzling rain couldn’t stop Anne and Mike’s wedding from being absolutely perfect. A ceremony on the lawn over looking the water led to a pleasant cocktail hour on the porches just as the sun was setting and a beautiful, formal seated dinner by Granville’s Catering inside the Creek Club…

and of course, DANCING rounded out the evening!

Here are a few of my shots from the big day, but hopefully more to come from talented photographer Lee Morris to follow…

Congrats, Anne and Mike!!
