There are the weddings that take years to plan… countless hours to design and coordinate and dozens of staff to put together. And these are gorgeous!
But then there are also weddings in which everything just seems to fall into place naturally. Dates are open, vendors are magically available, the flowers come in more beautiful than normal, and family and friends come around to create a relaxed, gorgeous, and utterly joyful weekend.
Jim and Becky’s wedding was so much fun for WED to plan, especially since Ellen Robinson and her husband were guests themselves. After we completed the set, Ellen was able to leave her planner cap at home and enjoy the food, drinks, and dancing- whoohoo!
Leigh Webber (be sure to check out her great blog here) was able to capture these beautiful shots of the William Aiken House wedding…

Ellen and her friends relax and enjoy the party!

When I was a little girl I thought I was going to be a food stylist. Ok, so I didn’t know what a food stylist really was, but I loved looking at the pictures in my mom’s magazines and cookbooks and knew I wanted to recreate those photographs!
In college I worked as the store stylist at a Williams-Sonoma store. It was so much fun to take their fabulous products and display them in a way that was visually appealing and enticing. And that’s exactly what we try to do with our wedding menu items, too.
They say that you “eat with your eyes first” and I certainly agree. And why would we work so hard to perfect every detail of the decor and then not think about styling the food as well?
Jaime and Shane were self-professed “foodies” and chose the ever-delicious Mediterra Catering to create a stunning menu for their fall 2008 wedding. They wanted to use fresh, seasonal ingredients and very clean flavors that paired with the variety of wines they chose specifically to pair with each station of food. Naturally, they also wanted the food to be displayed in a way that was fitting of the season and elegantly chic.

And this is what should happen when everyone is enjoying the food– CHEERS!

(beautiful photos from Taylor Stewart Photography, and thank you again Katie Priegal and the Mediterra Catering crew for your gorgeous and delicious food!)

I mean, this cake is stunning enough as is- how could you not love that petite sugared fruit and earthy Indonesian wood stand??!!

But when you frame it with a ring of orchids, it becomes the stunning centerpiece of the wedding (The best part: the chandelier originally was developed to hide the brass chandeliers that did not coordinate with her theme).

There’s something about live flowers, huh?

Best wishes to Elizabeth and Richie- congrats on your new marriage and WED wishes you the best!

For the fourth year WED was able to plan and design the annual Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry’s fundraiser gala. This year we decided to create a streamlined, clean look for the museum. For the first time we moved the event from inside the museum to the adjacent lawn… a transformation was to be had!
WED pitched the idea of monochromatic colors varying from whites, greys, silvers and our one “punch” color– citron. We constantly wanted to maintain the intergity of the theme by making sure to utilize the citron in one specific location: guest seating.

Couture linen overlays of kiwi confetti kept things fresh and whimsical while the modern lines of the florals anchored the theme. Fresh pears, green coxcomb, and green cymbidium orchids allowed for an unusual play on “food as art.”

Lighting created the other major component for the event. Over 28 various lighting sources were used thoughtout the two tents… from sheer black shades over chandeliers to drumshades and glossy black crystal chandeliers, and they all blended together perfectly.

The streamlined aesthetic was carried throughout every detail… from the boxwood balls hanging on the entry gate to the wishing tree to the donation containers…

Congratulations to the Children’s Museum on another successful fundraiser!

Alli and Mark came all the way from Brooklyn to have the Southern garden wedding they craved…

The October wedding was painted purple– with accents of orange to add an autumnal touch. Moss natural elements like bittersweet vine and birds nest added a bit of whimsy for this free-spirited and laid back bride.

The torrential rain on Friday cleared up just in time for their 10:30 a.m. ceremony- whew! Streamers of satin ribbon and strands of green dendrobium orchids framed the couple as they bacame husband and wife.
The cupcake “cake” was a huge hit– who knew so many cupcakes could get eated by 60 people at 11:00 am?!
Each detail seemed to fall right into place… the decor was just so pretty in its simplicity. Congrats to Alli and Mark!
