Happy Anniversary, Amanda and Jason!

January 11th, 2013

Happy Friday to you all!  Luke here!

Since we are getting very close to a very special anniversary for one of my 2012 brides and grooms, I thought what a GREAT opportunity to celebrate a little anniversary of my own.  I met Charlotte  Elizabeth Photography in 2011 and immediately knew that she had that special touch it takes to be a photographer extraodinaire.  Personable, fun to be around, knowledgeable about the craft and just downright easy to work with.  I immediately set to the task of finding just that perfect event for her to shoot.

Well, on January 14 I had the pleasure of working with Charlotte on Amanda and Jason’s wedding at the Francis Marion Hotel and boy was I ever happy with the end results.

Happy Anniversary especially to Amanda and Jason!  We love you guys and hope to wish you many many more over the years.  And, Happy Anniversary from me to you Charlotte.  I am so happy to have found such a great wedding day teammate.

Merging the City of Lights in the Holy City

December 18th, 2012

Planning a wedding is always an honor and a pleasure. Sounds trite to say, but there is not a wedding I have helped to plan in which I didn’t feel humbled and amazed in it all. Our clients become our friends and for that I am so thankful.

But sometimes our friends become our clients!

When I was a wee lady of 20, I studied abroad in Italy along with several other students from my university. I didn’t know anyone before the trip but became fast friends with Kate, who had already been abroad many times all over the world; I thought she was so worldly and grown up!

Fast forward 10 years. We’ve kept in touch but not nearly enough as we should, so when I received an email from my old friend Kate asking me to help her plan her Charleston wedding I about exploded with excitement!

Turns out that Kate, while completing her pastry school training in Paris, had met a Parisian and fallen in love. *sigh* And now was getting married in Charleston, no less!

With very few visits to Charleston we knew we had to act fast. Kate had a beautiful blue and red antique French-American dictionary which served as our source of inspiration. She desired hand-crafted and personal details to create a cozy and gracious atmosphere for their friends and family who were coming from near and far. She wanted to bring part of her fiancé’s French culture here while maintaining her southern roots.

It was a merging of the City of Lights in the Holy City. And what a special wedding it was!

Lauren & Grant on The Wedding Row

December 13th, 2012

Lauren & Grant’s Legare Waring wedding was a complete reflection of their laid back & anything but ordinary style.  No details were over looked, from greeting Guests with Mexican sodas to Sour Cream Bundt cakes being flown down from Dessert Designs in Nashville to “Sign Sealed Delivered” as a non-traditional recessional, Lauren & Grant’s vibrant & vintage inspired wedding set the tone for their 90 Guests, keeping it quaint & sweet.

Lauren & Aaron’s Daniel Island Club Wedding

December 10th, 2012

Emerald green was just named 2013 Pantone Color of the year.  Looks like our girl Lauren was ahead of the trend curve when she wanted emerald green infused throughout her Daniel Island Club wedding!  As it can be such a strong color, we added hints of emerald in linens, printing, and lounge furniture, and balanced with crisp and always classic black and white. Oh, and did we mention Lauren’s love of all things sparkle? A lot of sparkle.  TEC hung 28 crystal chandeliers to bling-out the club’s ballroom and completely transform the room.

Lauren and Aaron wanted personal details which we brought in through nods to their families and friends.  Guests were asked to send in a picture from their wedding, which we then created a wall featuring each of their wedding pictures!  Lauren, being extremely proud of the business her Parents built, used their Glasspro slogan “It’s your choice…”  at the end of the night for their farewell.  Lauren couldn’t decide between confetti, ribbon wands, glow sticks, or vuvuzela horns, so we went with all four.  In true Lauren and Aaron fashion there was even an Elvis bartender.  Is there any better way to be served your favorite cocktail?!

Wedding Salon in New York City!

November 28th, 2012

Monday was such a wonderful day in NYC, beautiful weather, hustle and bustle of the holidays right around the corner and of course The Wedding Salon event at the Metropolitan Pavilion.  Katie and Luke worked their fingers to the bone to come up with that perfect bright fun tabletop to stand out in a crowd.  Based on the response: mission accomplished.  Here are a few pictures of our setup for you to ooh and aww over.  I hope you love it as much as we did!

Thank you so much to our friends and partners in NYC who helped make this such a stunning setup.  We met some fantastic potential clients and their grooms, parents, friends and family.  We are so excited to see the feedback.  NYC, NJ, CN and surrounding area brides, contact us for dates available in Spring, Summer and Fall 2013 as well as 2014.  Talk to you all soon!

Luke Wilson joins the WED team!

November 8th, 2012

WED is pleased to announce that Luke Wilson, formerly with Luke Wilson Special Events, will be joining our team.   Luke will be serving brides in both the New York market as well as Charleston, bringing an immense knowledge base of the industry to our team.  He has been in the event industry in Charleston since 2000 while attending Johnson & Wales University.  Graduating in 2002 with a degree in baking and pastry arts as well as food service management, Luke opened his own company planning over forty events each year for the next ten years.

Recently it became clear that Luke Wilson and WED’s goals were aligning along the same path, specialized boutique planning and design with a focus on quality service to our clients.  Luke sought to join the WED team allowing a support system in New York City for WED clients and the WED touch to events in New York.

Luke’s first day will be November 12, 2012.  We are all thrilled to share such an exciting venture and hope you have time to contact Luke in the weeks ahead!

Hope everyone has had a productive wedding season.  We are looking forward to ringing in the New Year and Spring Season with Luke by our side!

Jenny & Jason Under The Oaks

October 18th, 2012

When we first met with Jenny & Jason they both had simple requests… Jenny loves the color purple & Jason loves bacon.  Easy enough!

After scouring multiple fabric stores we found our inspiration & jumping off point for the entire design in a lavender geometric pattern which we infused in custom napkins & printing throughout the entire event.   Mackay Point Plantation, Jenny’s family’s home, was a blank slate for us to transform.  With the help of our friends over at Snyder Event Rentals we created an event space among the oaks.

Not too shabby!

Blossom Events created a round bar to surround one of the Plantation’s many oaks for cocktail hour.

Bacon wrapped shrimp from Cru Catering… There ya go Jason!

Jenny & Jason’s first dance to Tina Turner’s “Simply The Best,” with a Bridal Party flash mob later in the evening!
